How to Install Jbuilder on your home system.

 

 To install Jbuilder you need to install a program called winRAR.

 

1.)  You can download winRAR at http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm.

Click on WinRAR 3.60.

 

Choose Run.

 

Follow the installation directions and choose a location where you want the program installed.

 

2.)  Now to install Jbuilder insert the Jbuilder Foundation 2005 CD that came with your text book into your CD ROM drive.  

 

The CD should auto run and show you a folder view with a list of RAR files.  If not open my computer and double click on your CD ROM drive icon.

         

Once the list of files is showing, double click on jb2005_fnd_windows.

The winRAR program should run and show you a folder named jb2005_windows.

 

Single left click on this folder to select it and then click on the “Extract To” icon on the toolbar.

 

A window will popup to allow you to select your destination path.  Choose any path you see fit (usually desktop, program files, or my documents).

         

Click on OK.

         

The folder is then extracted to the destination you chose.

 

Close all your windows and then navigate to the jb2005_windows folder you just extracted.

         

Double click on the jb2005_windows folder to open it.

         

Double click on the install icon.

         

Follow the installation instructions:

                   Click next.

                   Click on “I accept …”.

                   Click next.

The default path is fine unless you want to change it to suit your organization ideology.

                   Wait until the installation is finished (less than one minute).

                   Click on done.

 

3.)  To run your newly installed Jbuilder program click on the start menu à All Programs à Borland Jbuilder 2005 Foundation à  Borland Jbuilder 2005 Foundation.

Note:  To those of you using other programs pathed to JDK you may want to uninstall the JDK that comes with JBuilder and associate the program to your version of JDK.
