Tyler Stoaks- 2024 Student of the Year

Tyler Stoaks (middle) and the CS Club accepting the Club of the Year Award.

This year, it was an easy decision for all of us, as Tyler Stoaks has been amazing in so many ways. From being President of the highly active Computer Science Club, to his presence tutoring for multiple classes in the Computer Science Lab, to his ability to incorporate technologies (like 3D-printing) in everything, Tyler has always exceeded everyone’s expectations. He makes learning fun for our students and encourages student participation inside and outside of the classroom, both academically and socially. Our department has been very fortunate to have someone like Tyler around.

Major congratulations to the following students: Alysha Osbakken, Lihong Wu, Eve Lizel Javier, Jeanette Espinoza, Estela Ramirez Ramirez, Sara Saib, Monica Aguilar, Valentina Venegas, Karina Portugal, Isabel Agundis. All of us in the CS department are very proud of you, and I’d like to give my congratulations on the part of all of the other faculty in our department as well. These projects I’m reading about (U-Finder, Recycle Right, and ClockIt) were very innovative ideas and quite useful. Your ability to apply the concepts you’re gaining in the classroom in such a way is a great achievement.
